Cantorion were delighted to take part in the 2011 Gogfest at Aberystwyth Rugby Club on Sunday, May 8th.  The Gogfest is an annual fundraising event in memory of a most popular Dolgellau, Aberystwyth and Chester rugby player, Aled Evans who passed away in 2008.  This was the first time that Gogfest’s organisers had decided to hold a concert on a Sunday and it proved to be an overwhelming success with Cantorion and the soloists gladly entertaining a most receptive and cultured audience in the marquee.  To date, the Gogfest has raised nearly £40,000 for local charities such as Ty Hafan, The Ray Gravell Charities, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Cerebra and Apêl Elain.

The concert also included Urdd items by local school children.  It was also the first time that newlyweds, Andy and Sioned Evans had performed since winning the duet competition at Pontrhydfendigaid Eisteddfod last month.
