A reminder that Cantorion and John Daniel will be launching their first CHORAL WORKSHOP at Llanrwst Leisure Centre this SUNDAY, APRIL 17th, 2011 at 1400. This is an open invitation for men who want the informal experience of singing within the ranks of the Cantorion. We are looking for men who used to sing, men who want to sing, men who think they can’t sing, and of course those who think they can. This Choral Workshop is an opportunity to experience vocal training of the highest order and what’s more . . . IT’S FREE ! ! !
For further details and to book your place on the Workshop, please contact Arthur on secretary@cantorioncolinjones.co.uk or phone 07747 786761
We look forward to meeting you
The Workshop has been set up as an invitation for young men from north Wales who have an interest in experiencing what singing within a top notch male voice choir feels and sound like. A lot of interest has gathered already from ex-choristers as well as many who have not sung a note since school!!
It will be a day with a difference and we look forward to seeing you there
Key points where John can assist :
John teaches with a full knowledge of the vocal anatomy that is needed to provide a safe technical base. He can blow away many of the myths surrounding vocal work and explain the background and reason for many of the analogies that are used in singing teaching. Giving a thorough, practical and anatomically correct explanation can be amazingly liberating for many singers who find they have misunderstood the ideas of vocal technique and breathing.
Many choral singers have had little training or private tuition, and it is sometimes confusing for them to learn only through metaphor. And, although this can be useful, often the singer has no knowledge of how they have made the changes they have achieved and cannot repeat them at will. Gaining a substantial, physical and vocally experience, backed up by a sound technical understanding, helps maintain the changes – and ‘embeds’ them into the singer so that he can permanently utilise them fully in the Cantorion or elsewhere.
