Eisteddfod Success for our men

Wrexham Eisteddfod  Competition  ” Any Classic Welsh Solo”

There were 36 competitors in the preliminary heat held in the Pagoda at the National Eisteddfod on Friday, 5th August. 6 of them were members of Cantorion Colin Jones, with four being tutored by our Musical Director, Mr John Daniel.  The six were, Arthur Davies, Maldwyn” Monty” Williams, Trefor Wyn Jones, Tudur Evans, Bedwyr Evans; John Price.

Arthur Davies and Arthur Roberts also competed in the heats of the hymn singing for the over 60′s but were not successful this time.  I have a feeling that our “local Eisteddfod’s” will be receiving many new competitors in the coming months!

Congratulations also to Sioned Wyn  (Mrs Andy Evans) on coming 2nd in the Contralto competition.  Gareth Rowlands 3rd Baritone.  Hogiau’r Berfeddwlad – 2nd in Folk choir – Jon Hughes is a member. I also saw Keith Humphreys and fellow chorister, Stuart Davies who was on his way to compete in the singing competitions for Welsh learners. Stuart again made us proud by winning the competition. Brilliant!
