12th June, 2011Greetings from your New Orleans
Fans and Friends
“Dear Gareth and Arthur and all the guys,
We are the folks who attended your practice on a rainy Sunday a few weeks ago in Betws y Coed.
I do not know how to express the pleasure and shear joy we experienced in listening to the chorus. We are both avid music fans (and classic audio equipment is a longstanding hobby), but we were not prepared for the way your songs enveloped and transported us. We thought we might listen for an hour or so, but couldn’t leave. If you had practiced until midnight, we would have stayed. It was the weather that got us there, but that was not what kept us there.
We have told the story of that experience to many friends since returning home, and we find ourselves saying it was our favorite experience of the entire five week trip.
Listening to the practice was a revelation, as we heard the results John coaxed from the chorus through his gentle direction. It was truly amazing to hear each song being created – much like attending a master class. What a privilege it was to be there!
We found the CD’s waiting for us upon our return. Thank you for sending those. We have immensely enjoyed listening to them and the one we brought back. We find ourselves once again transported back to that rainy day in Wales and again can’t stop listening.
Thank you so very much for sharing your warm Welsh welcome and your wonderful talent with two strangers. We didn’t stay strangers very long. We will be back to Wales next year, perhaps in May, and hope we can visit with you again.”
Warmest regards,
Joe and Charlotte
